Parts you'll need to have on your quad on the day of the test.

To get your quad through the MSVA test it needs to have a number of parts fitted for your safety.

  • Fuel tank cap protector fitted if the cap is in front of the rider, and not perceptably spherical.
  • Front fender edging - if the front edge of your front fender is less than 4mm diameter, then you'll need to wrap it in rubber beading.
  • Restrictor. Although there are no requirements that say that a quad on the road has to be restricted to 15kw, or 20hp, for the test, a restrictor needs to be fitted. This can be done a number of ways, but check with your local SVA centre which method they accept.
You'll also need a dyno print to prove the power when you take the quad along for the test
  • Impact areas - check that all parts of the quad that a passer by could rub against if the quad was parked in a parking bay have a blunted edge - file the moulding flashes off plastic, and round the corners of metal bumpers.
